Foreign media outlets have reported details of one of the most sophisticated special operations involving the Katran maritime action system, while military experts have analyzed the mission minute by minute.
According to these reports, it was the Ukrainian Katran system that ensured the success of an operation now expected to be studied in modern naval warfare textbooks. Military analysts discussed the mission in detail in an English-language feature released on the Military Noway YouTube channel on October 16, 2025.
This complex and multi-layered mission, according to the material, was directed against Russian maritime infrastructure — an oil rig in the Black Sea. Incidentally, it was called the “nerve center” of the Russian Federation's southern front, as well as an “unsinkable platform.” However, the Katran systems, along with other Ukrainian military products, debunked this myth.

Military experts emphasize that this successful mission demonstrated that modern warfare requires the ability to combine robotics, electronic warfare, and sophisticated logistics. This time, it was Katran drones that proved their high effectiveness as part of a large-scale and systematic strategy.
Moreover, Western military experts note that this operation could set a precedent and will be studied in future training courses on naval tactics. Meanwhile, there will be more and more successful drone operations in the Black Sea, as foreign experts believe that a new era of such missions lies ahead.
